The 2010 season should be an adventure in the GBL. Not only will there be new road trips -- to Maui and Tijuana -- but the league returns to its roots with the elimination of the designated hitter. Time to pitchers to pick up a bat and step up to the plate.
While some old friends won't be back in 2010, the Flyers head into Year 6 of the GBL as one of three original franchises still in action. And while it seemed like the St. George RoadRunners weren't going to be back this season, a new ownership group has rescued the franchise and will keep it tucked away in the southwest corner of Utah.

GBL RELEASES 90-GAME SCHEDULE FOR 2010
FLYERS HOME OPENER: JUNE 15
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Orange County Flyers will open the 2010 season with a franchise record 18-game road trip before its first game at The Station at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field on Tuesday, June 15 against the Calgary Vipers in a rematch of the dramatic 2008 league championship series. The Flyers begin their sixth season of professional baseball on Friday, May 21 in St. George (Utah) and will wrap up the season with a seven-game road trip to the Hawaiian Islands ending on September 6.
The Flyers, one of three remaining charter franchises of the Golden Baseball League (GBL), will miss the local rivalry with the Long Beach Armada, as the other Southern California franchise was left off the 2010 schedule amid doubts of securing stadium rights at Blair Field.
With the exception of Long Beach, every GBL franchise from the 2009 season will return for 2010 to make a league-record 10-team schedule, including the St. George Roadrunners, whose future was in doubt just months ago when reports surfaced that the franchise is Southwest Utah was closing up shop. Two new franchises have joined the GBL for 2010, located in Tijuana, Mexico and on the Hawaiian Island of Maui, both will join the Flyers, Yuma Scorpions and Tucson Toros in the South Division.
